iRobot Roomba 650

iRobot Roomba 805

Being one of the earliest models of iRobot vacuum cleaners to be launched, this model has many features that are no more incorporated in the newer models.

However, it is still one of the most sold iRobot Vacuum cleaners in almost all the e-commerce portals.

Key Features

  • Three effective stage cleaning helps in removing small dust particles, cereals and pet hair clogs.
  • “Convenient mode” when enabled, serves assistance with free cleaning.
  • Auto home return option with a self-charging dock prevents the need for monitoring.

iRobot Roomba 805

The Roomba 805 is the first model under the 800 series. However, it is also one of the most influential models to be designed as of now.

Key Features

  • Virtual wall barrier mode and cliff sensors for walls and stair detection.
  • Particle sizes as small as 10 microns can be detected and picked.
  • Is fitted with extremely powerful suction and debris collecting rotating brush.

Comparison of Features Between Roomba 650 & 805

  • The Roomba 650 has a 3 stage Aero-Vac cleaning sensor while the Roomba 805 has an Aero-Force 3 stage cleaning system. This difference enables the Roomba 805 to clean deeper and detect even the smallest of dander and hair particles.
  • The Roomba 805 has a strong suction capacity that allows better cleaning of carpets and crevices. The 5x suction is not available in the Roomba 650. The additional suction makes the Roomba 805 perform better even though both Roomba 650 and 805 have side spinning brushes.
  • Roomba 650 has only an acoustic sensor while the Roomba 805 has both optical as well as acoustic sensors, thus making it a comparatively more powerful dirt detector.
  • The Aero Vac technology in the 650 series helps in sucking the hair debris out while the Aero-force technology in the 805 series collects and breaks down the tangles of the hair and other dirt particles. The feature prevents clogging of the vacuum cleaner in the newer models.
  • Aero force technology enables the collection of pollens, allergens, and microparticles which is not possible in the Aero-vac 650 Roomba models.
  • The 650 model is the only remaining Roomba with Bristle brush bars while the 805 series is equipped with a debris extractor that is tangled free enabled.
  • The Dual mode Virtual wall is a feature that is specific to the 650 Roomba model. It enables it to detect barriers and walls beforehand and move in the other direction. The Virtual Lighthouse mode featured in the Roomba 805 also functions the same way, but it recognizes the diversions and barriers and memorizes them for future mapping.

Final Verdict

Both the irobot Roomba 650 and 805 are older models still available for purchase. However, each of the models has individual traits and features that make them a great choice.

The Roomba 650 is comparatively more affordable; however, the new additional performance traits are not available in it. The Roomba 805 is a newer model that is bound to be technologically better and more functional than the Roomba 650.
